Musicals #1

Everyone who knows me, knows I am a bit of a musical dork. I absolutely love going to the theatre and I love music, so really it's perfection for me. I've seen quite a few musicals, because my parents always took me when I was very young, so I guess I've grown up loving them.

A musical I've recently discovered is 'Bonnie & Clyde', a musical about the famous American outlaw couple. It starred Jeremy Jordan and Laura Osnes for it's short Broadway run.

Jeremy Jordan has just got onto a really successful show about Broadway musicals called 'Smash'. Me and my friend Mel are obsessed with him, he's gorgeous and his voice is beautiful and melts me. He is amazing in B & C, he's perfect for the role; cheeky, gorgeous and rough. He's also been in quite a few musicals: Rock Of Ages (swing), West Side Story (Tony) and Newsies (Jack Kelly). He's also won a 'Theatre World Award' for outstanding debut in Bonnie & Clyde. And has been nominated for lots of other awards for his role in Newsies. Personally I think he's crazy talented, and you should all youtube him playing 'Bonnie' and 'Broadway, Here I Come'. I listen to them non-stop.

Laura Osnes also has a beautiful voice. She's been in Grease (Sandy), Pride & Prejudice (Elizabeth), Anything Goes (Hope) and Cinderella (Ella). She has the most perfect voice and is Perfect for Bonnie. My favourite songs from B&C are 'That's What You Call A Dream', 'The World Will Remember Us' and 'Dyin' Ain't So Bad'. I'm going to stop gabbling about Bonnie and Clyde now. (I only discovered it today, and I've been really excited to find something this good all day). Unfortunately after mixed critic reviews the show only had a short run of about a year before it closed in 2012.

The most recent one I've seen is Lion King. My best friend Abi took me and 7 other girls to see it for her birthday, and it was amazing. It's more of an experience than a musically musical. (That made sense in my head.) The costumes are so madly amazing, and the harmonies in the African chorus are gorgeous. It was actually quite emotional at times, and quite a few of us cried, (not me, I'm a rock). It was such an experience. Even though I'd seen it twice before then, it was like the first time I'd seen it. I loved it and I'd defiantly recommend it. I think it's touring at the moment, so get in there while you can.

I'm going to post more about some more musicals soon.
